Can Planning Guarantee a Perfect Life

Off lately I have been hearing “planning” word too frequently, and no matter how hard I try but planning in advance is not my cup of tea. And this procrastination has resulted in both kind of losses e.g. financially and carrier wise. But in spite of losses I couldn’t digest this pill of planning.

Today during my farewell party ( from current job ) and looking towards an uncertain future (tomorrow will be my last day in office and I don’t have any job offer right now literally I feel like being lost in a pitch dark place), I realised that my well wisher were loathing me for being an irresponsible person, irresponsible towards carrier, irresponsible towards family, irresponsible financially etc etc.

But after reaching home one thought came to me, why planning has become the only important thing in our life, plan for future, plan for marriage, plan for kids, plan for retirement literally it appears that even for a smile we need to plan in advance.

Are we genetically wired to plan things in advance ? IMHO WE ARE NOT, we are wired to enjoy moments, and not for planning about moments of enjoyment, there is subtle and big difference among two, the former translates to being in current moment and enjoy it fully, all gurus and self help book talks about it (living in present moment), but the impact of planing on being happy is missed in most of them (I may be wrong here, but I drew this analogy from whatever limited books I have read).

I will given you an example our forefathers the Apes (Luckily we could still see them around happily living on trees ), do we see them planing for their retirement ? we see them content in whatever they do without worrying about planing for future.

This mental state of being fully content in present moment creates our lifetime experiences, a book of our own journey, these experiences stays with us for our entire life. In excessive planning we are always busy in postponing our joy for some vague and unknown future moment and totally missing the pandora of events of happiness happened during the journey.

Planning is needed but excessive and too much planning only give grey hair, and stress. Life is very simple but our constant quest of finding a perfect life has deprived us of enjoying the endeavour of life.

Someone gifted me with a wonderful quote “Success is a Journey and not Destination”, We should enjoy the Journey Success/Failure is immaterial.
